WITH ALL THE RED DUST THAT HAS LANDED OVER BRISBANE IN THE LAST WEEK I WAS REMINDED OF A PLACE IN THAILAND WHICH SERVED “MORNING GLORY WITH RED DUST” ON THE MENU.
Here is an email from Thailand sent to some friends a while ago ……..
Subject: Kop koon krap from Thailand
Kicking back on the beach for the last few weeks has been relaxing and educational so we thought it was time to let you in on our new found lingo (Thai style)……
After being woken in the early hours by the roosters cock a doodling (without the doo) we enjoy a breakfast of morning glory with red dust (yes that is on the menu) we find ourselves “happy” to start the day.
Our happiness is offered to us by purchasing a “ticket to the moon” more commonly referred to as smoking the reefer. We politely decline and go on to order some “no name vegies” for lunch; we hear they are lovely jubly. This amazing food gives us the energy to go on the “Today where are you trip?”, before going to the “same same but different “restaurant. This is apparently the dog’s bollocks, according to our hospitable but constantly stoned Thai friends.
We have eaten copious amounts of french fried and ships, which we enjoy with bloody f@*cken cold beer (readily advertised as exactly that on many street corners and bars). At night we like to watch the sunset over the ocean whilst devouring a pina corada. My brother asks for the bill in English, and they congratulate him on his excellent Thai (we are still trying to work out what he could possibly have said).
We walk round the streets looking at the goats chilling on people’s porches while an elephant passes us on the other side of the road. Tomorrow we will catch a bus to the railway station and head back to Bangkok just in time for a ping pong show before peter heads off to London.
On that note we will leave you and as my brother’s new t-shirt says
KEEP ON BOOGIN!
