THE TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCE

Why is it than in a century where technology is growing and developing faster than ever before, time appears to be disappearing just as quickly?

Technology is meant to save us time, make us more time efficient and organised, yet why do I always find myself struggling to find the time to reply to emails, update Facebook, write new blog stories.  Is it possible that with so much technology the options are too many and we simply don’t have the time to deal with them all.

With all this technology and information so readily available at our fingertips we now have the ability to be made to feel inadequate 24 hours a day; we read about how we are not thin enough, not eating the right foods by one article when the next tells us we are correct, not exercising enough or doing it the wrong way, we can self diagnose medical conditions causing more stress to us than before we searched.

With all these tools available to make us more self-sufficient and time effective why are we as a nation becoming lazier why can’t our kids play by themselves, amuse themselves and play without technology, why are obesity levels rising and why do we freak out so much if our mobile phone runs out of power or weare out of mobile range?

Have we lost the ability to think for ourselves, to add up without a calculator, to spell without spell check, to arrange to meet a friend and stick to that time and not just text them if we are running late?

Don’t get me wrong I love all this technology, but surely we must not dumb down as a result.  At what cost do we enjoy this, when do we stop relying on technology and learn to think for ourselves again?

Where do we draw the line and learn to advance by ourselves?
